What should a 9 week old puppy eat?

Let me start out with this is NOT A MY DOG SITUATION so I don't need a big long get your dog spayed/neutered talk please+thank you! This dog is a FICTIONAL DOG IN A BOOK I AM WRITING NOT MY PUPPY! Ok, so I'm writing a book and in it a man finds a puppy in his yard. He takes the puppy in and calls the animal shelter and they tell him what to feed it until they come the next day to pick him up. What would a 9 week old puppy eat OTHER THAN dog food. ie: lunch meats, bacon, any people food that someone would have handy without having to buy it. Thanks guys, sorry for the Caps!
