How did the Industrial Revolution affect the English Language?

I know for a fact that it obviously invented new words for the English vocabulary but how else was the English language affected by it? I have heard that the Industrial Revolution may have standardised spelling in the English language but I'm not sure. Could someone please tell me into the other changes that occurred?
