Hairstyles for curly hair?

Hi, I'm 14 and I have EXTREMELY frizzy, curly hair. I'm really self conscious about it cause I can't do all the hairstyles the other girls do, like the side fringe or the hair pulled back over the head (my hairs so thick that when I do that the rest of it puffs out making me look like a clown. I also can't do a lot of other hairstyles cause I look like an elf with my hair behind my ears (cause my hair is so thick it pushes my ears out). The only stuff I do with my hair is a ponytail with a strand of hair on each side, side ponytail with hair on each side and pigtails with hair on each side. I've been doing this for ages and it isn't very flattering. I'm also not stunning, I have lots of pimples and my hair doesn't help my confidence. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
